Terms of Service

Part I — General Terms
Applicable to all users of the Cheron platform.
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using the Cheron mobile application and platform (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Cheron operates as a marketplace connecting customers (“Customers”) with independent service professionals (“Professionals”) for home services including plumbing, electrical work, cleaning, locksmith, handyman, and moving services.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into binding agreements. By creating an account, you represent that the information you provide is accurate, complete, and current.
3. Platform Role
Cheron is a technology platform that facilitates connections between Customers and Professionals. Cheron does not itself provide home services. Professionals are independent contractors, not employees or agents of Cheron.
While we verify Professional identities, insurance, and business registration, Cheron does not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of services performed.
4. Accounts and Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to immediately notify Cheron of any unauthorized access. You may not create multiple accounts, share your account, or transfer it without our written consent.
5. Pricing and Estimates
Prices are estimated using AI-powered diagnostics based on information provided by the Customer (descriptions, photos, questionnaire responses). Estimates are indicative and the final price may differ based on the actual scope of work discovered on-site.
6. Payments and Fees
Payment is collected upfront and held in escrow until the job is completed and approved. Cheron charges a platform fee on each transaction. Payments are processed securely through Stripe. By using the Service, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.
7. Price Adjustments
Professionals may request a price adjustment during a job if the actual scope of work differs significantly from the original estimate. All adjustment requests are reviewed by the Cheron admin team before being presented to the Customer.
If the admin team approves a price adjustment, the Customer may accept or decline the new price. If the Customer declines, the outcome depends on the work already performed:
- •If substantial work has been completed, the Professional is compensated for the work actually done, as determined by the Cheron admin team.
- •If no meaningful work has begun, the job may be cancelled with a full refund.
- •In cases of minor price deviations, Cheron may, at its sole discretion, absorb the difference to resolve the situation without impacting either party.
The Cheron admin team makes the final determination on all price adjustment outcomes based on the evidence provided by both parties.
8. Job Completion and Approval
When a Professional marks a job as complete, the Customer has 24 hours to review the work and either approve it or raise a concern. If no response is received within 24 hours, the job is automatically approved and payment is released.
9. Disputes
Both Customers and Professionals may raise disputes through the platform. During a dispute, payment is held securely in escrow until resolution.
The Cheron admin team reviews all evidence submitted by both parties and determines a fair outcome. Resolutions may include: full payment to the Professional, partial payment with partial refund, or full refund to the Customer, depending on the circumstances.
Cheron's dispute resolution decisions are final and binding.
10. Prohibited Conduct
All users are prohibited from: using the Service for unlawful purposes; harassing, threatening, or discriminating against other users; submitting false or misleading information; circumventing platform fees by arranging payment outside Cheron; filing fraudulent disputes or adjustment requests; creating fake accounts or reviews; interfering with the operation of the Service.
Violations may result in temporary suspension or permanent ban from the platform at Cheron's sole discretion.
11. Intellectual Property
The Cheron name, logo, and all related trademarks are the property of Cheron SAS. You may not use them without prior written permission.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Cheron shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Cheron's total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid to Cheron in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
13. Modifications to Terms
Cheron reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Paris, France.
Part II — Customer Terms
Additional terms applicable to Customers using Cheron to book services.
15. Accurate Information
You agree to provide accurate and complete information about the services you need, including descriptions, photos, and answers to diagnostic questions. Inaccurate information may lead to incorrect pricing estimates and is not grounds for a dispute.
16. Access and Availability
You agree to be present or ensure access to the service location at the agreed time. If a Professional arrives and cannot access the property, you may be charged for the Professional's travel time and the job may be cancelled.
17. Safe Environment
You agree to provide a safe and reasonable working environment. If a Professional determines that conditions are unsafe (structural hazards, health risks, hostile environment), they may decline to proceed. In such cases, you may be charged for the Professional's travel time.
18. Respectful Conduct
You agree to treat Professionals with respect and courtesy. Abusive, threatening, or discriminatory behavior toward Professionals will result in immediate account suspension and may lead to permanent ban.
19. Payment Obligations
You agree to pay for services rendered as agreed. Payment is collected upfront and held in escrow. Attempting to negotiate payment outside the platform or dispute legitimate charges without basis may result in account restrictions.
20. Review and Approval
After a job is marked as complete, you have 24 hours to review the work. If you have concerns, you must raise them within this window. Failure to respond results in automatic approval. You may also raise issues on completed jobs within 7 days if defects are discovered after approval.
21. Cancellation by Customer
You may cancel a service request at no charge before a Professional is assigned. After a Professional accepts and is en route, a cancellation fee may apply to compensate for the Professional's time and travel.
Part III — Professional Terms
Additional terms applicable to Professionals offering services through Cheron.
22. Verification Requirements
You must complete identity verification through Stripe Identity before accepting jobs. You must also provide valid business registration and insurance documents. Operating without required documentation is a serious violation that will result in immediate and permanent ban.
23. Service Standards
You agree to provide services in a professional, competent, safe, and timely manner. You must accurately represent your skills, experience, and qualifications. Work must meet applicable trade standards and local regulations.
24. Job Acceptance and Reliability
Once you accept a job, you are expected to complete it. Repeatedly cancelling accepted jobs, failing to show up, or providing significantly substandard work will result in account restrictions or ban. Your reliability directly affects your rating and visibility on the platform.
25. Price Adjustment Requests
You may request a price adjustment if the actual scope of work is significantly different from the original estimate. You must provide a clear justification and supporting evidence (photos, description of additional work required).
All requests are reviewed by the Cheron admin team. Fraudulent or abusive adjustment requests — including inflating scope, misrepresenting conditions, or repeatedly requesting unjustified increases — will result in temporary suspension or permanent ban.
26. Payouts
You receive your payout after the job is approved by the Customer (or auto-approved after 24 hours). Payouts are processed through Stripe Connect to your linked bank account. Cheron retains the platform fee from each transaction. Payout timing depends on your Stripe account settings.
27. Insurance and Liability
As an independent contractor, you are responsible for maintaining appropriate professional liability insurance as required by your trade and jurisdiction. Cheron is not responsible for damages, injuries, or losses caused during the performance of services.
28. Respectful Conduct
You agree to treat Customers with respect and courtesy. You must maintain a professional demeanor at all times while on a Customer's property. Any form of harassment, intimidation, theft, or property damage will result in immediate permanent ban and may be reported to authorities.
29. Platform Exclusivity During Jobs
For jobs arranged through Cheron, all communication and payment must remain on the platform. Soliciting Customers to pay outside the platform or providing contact information to bypass Cheron for future jobs is a violation of these Terms.
30. Account Termination
Either party may terminate their account at any time. Upon termination, pending payments are processed according to their status: completed and approved jobs are paid out, disputed jobs follow the dispute resolution process, and jobs not yet started are refunded to the Customer.
